    • In the case of porphyrin 1, chloride anion could not be used for it bound too tightly to enable an accurate determination by 1H NMR. In the case of porphyrin 3, chloride anion binding constants could be accurately determined from 1H NMR, whereas bromide anion's binding constants were too weak for accurate determinations at higher temperatures
