    • Compound 3 was prepared from commercially available 2-amino-6-chloropurine and sodium nitrite in aqueous tetrafluoroboric acid as described by: Gray, N. S.; Kwon, S.; Schultz, P. G. Tetrahedron Lett. 1997, 38, 1161. This was followed by a Mitsunobu reaction with isopropyl alcohol, according to a modification of ref 5. See the Supporting Information for the preparation of 3.
