Biol. 5, 22 [Epub ahead of print] (2006). This is an excellent paper describing in vitro and in vivo (mice) studies showing that common chemotherapy agents caused increased cell death and decreased cell division in the subventricular zone and in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus, and in the corpus callosum. These effects were seen with doses that were not effective in causing cell death in tumor cell lines.
