    • Sustained hippocampal chromatin regulation in a mouse model of depression and antidepressant action
    • This study shows that social defeat stress produces a sustained suppression of BDNF transcription through histone methylation, whereas antidepressants restore BDNF synthesis through histone acetylation. Antidepressants reduce histone deacetylase-5, and overexpression of this enzyme in the hippocampus prevents the effects of antidepressants on BDNF mRNA.
