The extinction rule for (h00) or (0k0) peaks with odd h, k values arises because the projection on the a*b* plane has p2gg symmetry where y* is the right angle. Splitting of the (hk0) and (hk̄0) peaks is imposed by the difference in the magnitude of the two vectors |ha*+kb*| and |ha*-kb*|, which are equal when γ* = 90°. This is the three-dimensional analog of the two-dimension case described in Ref. 12.
