    • We have recently observed that the quenching of QDs by 4AT corresponds predominantly to a shortening of fluorescence lifetimes and not to a decrease in the initial intensity of fluorescence. These results suggest that the presence of 4AT does not increase significantly the number of QDs initially in the dark state. Details of fluorescence lifetime studies will be reported elsewhere.
