Mycobacteria Target DC-SIGN to Suppress Dendritic Cell Function
-
The authors demonstrate that ManLAM binding to DC-SIGN inhibits LPS-mediated inflammatory responses generated by DCs and induces an anti-inflammatory response. This study indicates that a C-type lectin may modulate TLR-mediated responses, and that pathogens subvert this mechanism for their own purpose.

Cross-linking of the mannose receptor on monocyte-derived dendritic cells activates an anti-inflammatory immunosuppressive program
-
The authors demonstrate that engagement of the MR by an antibody or selected natural ligand elicits a secretory program in DCs characterised by a distinct profile of cytokine/chemokine production with the ability to dampen inflammation and to inhibit the generation of Th1-polarized immune responses.
