    • [23] In our case, this nonspecific binding results in slow equilibration of the system. The interaction of BSA with streptavidin must first be disrupted before the thermodynamically favorable TbL-Strep/Biot-QD interaction can take place. Peeling off the BSA from the Tb emitting species eliminates the associated quenching processes and is probably the origin of the rising Tb emission for [Biot-QD]/[TbL-Strep] < 0.25 (see Supporting Information).
