NIL structured surfaces have been exposed to oxygen plasma treatment. This is in contrast to the previously reported EBL fabricated surfaces. Such treatments may affect surface hydrophobic properties, which in turn may affect actomyosin motility (see rwf. 28).25) Nitrocellulose is the current standard for in vitro motility assays but lacks the ability to be lithographically structured like a UV- orEBL resist. See e.g. S. J. Kron, Y. Y. Toyoshima, T. Q. Uyeda and J. A. Spudich: Methods Enzymol. 196 (1991) 399.
