A comprehensive analysis of high-risk procedures and comparative attack rates among nurses are discussed.

One of the first reports of the clinical progression, viral shedding, and laboratory and radiographic findings among SARS patients. This paper is the best reference of temporal viral shedding in SARS patients. However, all patients were treated with steroids, and the data do not represent the true natural history of the disease.

Five patients characterized as "super spreaders" transmitted SARS to ≥10 healthcare workers, close contacts, or visitors' healthcare facilities.

[erratum appears in JAMA 2003, 290:334] Retrospective case series involving 144 adult patients admitted to 10 academic and community hospitals in the greater Toronto, Ontario, area between March 7 and April 10, 2003, with a diagnosis of suspected or probable SARS. 126/144 patients were treated with ribavirin, and most patients had significant toxicity, including hemolysis (in 76%) and decrease in hemoglobin of 2 g/dL (in 49%).

A good epidemiologic summary of a cohort of 138 adult SARS patients treated early in the outbreak (March 2003). The paper outlines the most common clinical and diagnostic features, and analyzes factors for poor outcome.
