    • Apolipoprotein E mediates the retention of high-density lipoproteins by mouse carotid arteries and cultured arterial smooth muscle cell extracellular matrices
    • note
    • Olin-Lewis K, Benton JL, Rutledge JC, Baskin DG, Wight TN, Chait A: Apolipoprotein E mediates the retention of high-density lipoproteins by mouse carotid arteries and cultured arterial smooth muscle cell extracellular matrices. Circ Res (2002) 90(12):1333-1339. HDL together with apoE, which is increased in CETP deficiency, was trapped in the vascular extracellular matrix, indicating that HDL with apoE has direct effects on the artery wall. However, whether these particles are anti- or pro-atherogenic, is not yet known.
