Molecular mechanics computations were performed by MacSpartan Pro/Plus (version 2.0) from Wavefunction, Inc. For each energy-minimization computation, a 12-met duplex crystal structure (ref 18) was imported and its nuclei were frozen. The two linkers were attached within the software, and the energy was minimized with a MMFF basis set.
