    • In the case that no precipitation occurs after 48 h, solvent is removed from the dark green reaction mixture by oil pump vacuum. The dark green residue is extracted with toluene (4 × 5 mL) until the purple extracts become colorless. The toluene is removed by vacuum and the deep purple residue is washed with MeOH (4 × 5 mL, until the purple washings become colorless) and pentane (2 × 3 mL) and dried by oil pump vacuum. The remaining orange solid 9 can then be further purified.
