Distribution of melatonin receptors in murine pancreatic islets
-
This study provides evidence for the localization of melatonin receptors in mouse islets on the protein level, not only their expression, but also their cellular localization in the islet. It demonstrates that MT1 is expressed in α-cells while MT2 is located to the β-cells. These findings help to understandthe complex machinery underlying melatonin's role in the regulation of islet function
