Neurocognitive function and progression in patients with brain metastases treated with whole-brain radiation and motexafin gadolinium: Results of a randomized phase III trial
-
Meyers CA, Smith JA, Bezjak A, et al.: Neurocognitive function and progression in patients with brain metastases treated with whole-brain radiation and motexafin gadolinium: results of a randomized phase III trial. J Clin Oncol 2004, 22:157-165. Through a multicenter phase III randomized trial, combination MGd and WBRT improved memory and executive ,function and significantly prolonged time to neurologic progression in patients with brain metastases from lung cancer. The authors also established sensitive neurocognitive tests as a reliable measure of brain function. Moreover, they showed that a combination of tumor prognostic variables and brain function assessments predicted survival better than tumor variables alone.
