This interesting study included 212 normally functioning BAVs in the community and showed that survival after 20 years of diagnosis was similar to that of the general population. No aortic dissection occurred. However, surgical events were 27%, most of which (24%) were aortic valvular surgery

This is the largest study on outcomes of BAV. A total of 642 consecutive patients were followed up 9 (5) years. Mortality was similar to that of the general population. Intervention on aortic valve or ascending aorta was required in 22% and aortic dissection in less than 2%. Predictors of cardiac events were age and the severity of aortic valvular disease
