    • c) The observed flocculation of unstable colloids that contrasts with our results was attributed to the relatively high Hamaker constant of a "metallic-like" polypyrrole. We did not carry out a detailed study of the reasons for a higher stability of our metal@PPy systems. One of the possible factors might be a lower oxidation level of the PPy matrix (according to UV, EDS and XPS spectroscopy) and therefore a smaller value of Hamaker constant. On the other hand, a difference in the surface structure of PPy and Pd@PPy particles is also possible, such as the formation of a gel-like layer formed by free tails of PPy molecules acting as a stabilizer of the particles1
