Several groups have studied 4-alkenyl[2.2]paracyclophane in the context of synthesis (see ref. 7a) and polymerizations (S. Iwatsuki, T. Itoh, M. Kubo, H. Okunu, Polym. Bull. 1994, 32, 27-34); however, this is the first time the optical properties of such compounds have been extensively studied.
