2 asphyxiation. Blood was collected by cardiac puncture and plasma prepared. Brain tissue was collected following organ perfusion to remove any excess blood. The brain tissue was homogenized on ice in cold PBS. The plasma and homogenized brain tissue were stored frozen until the time of analysis using LC/MS/MS. Standards curves, quality control and appropriate blank samples were included and all samples were analyzed. Results were expressed as the brain/plasma ratio (ng/g) at the specified time.
