The MAPK-activated kinase Rsk controls an acute Toll-like receptor signaling response in dendritic cells and is activated through two distinct pathways
-
First study to identify a role for a MAP kinase-activated kinase in TLR signalled responses in DCs and also shows that MAP kinase 'wiring' is different in DCs. Rsk (p90 ribosomal S6 kinase) was required for TLR-stimulated pinocytosis and is activated both by Erk and surprisingly, by p38 MAP kinase in DC, via the p38-activated kinases MK2/MK3.

A study which makes two important points. First, the authors may have settled the issue of where TAP molecules are required in TAP-dependent cross-presentation. By confining the viral TAP inhibitor US6 to the endocytic pathway they demonstrate inhibition of cross-presentation but not of conventional class I MHC presentation. Second, they show that TLR signalling boosts recruitment of TAP to cross-presenting endosomes.

A study which makes two important points. First, the authors may have settled the issue of where TAP molecules are required in TAP-dependent cross-presentation. By confining the viral TAP inhibitor US6 to the endocytic pathway they demonstrate inhibition of cross-presentation but not of conventional class I MHC presentation. Second, they show that TLR signalling boosts recruitment of TAP to cross-presenting endosomes.
