It should be emphasized, however, that it is rather difficult to perform appropriate control experiments to compare microwave- and conventionally heated processes in an oil bath, or autoclave, since these must be conducted at the exact same temperature (including heating and cooling profiles); other processing details such as vessel geometry, stirring speed, and the method of temperature monitoring should ideally also be identical.
