    • Genome-wide analysis of Fis binding in Escherichia coli indicates a causative role for A-/AT-tracts
    • Fis is one of the most abundant nucleoid-associated proteins in rapidly growing E. coli. This study shows that Fis binds at hundreds of target sites, the majority of which are in gene regulatory regions. This has important consequences for the organisation of the folded chromosome and shows that the influence of Fis is more pervasive than previously thought. See also citation [29].
