Differences in neutralization assay sensitivity were observed depending on both the assay and neutralizing reagent, and a range of neutralizing assays is recommended for evaluating NAb responses elicited by vaccines

    • This minireview provides an excellent overview of various assays used to analyze NAb activity against HIV-1. As newer assays have been developed, it compares technologic differences and relates this to discordant results observed between pseudovirion/reporter cell line and PBMC assays and NAbs. The article also provides perspective on the challenges and significance of developing and validating standardize assay platforms that will be of predictive value for protecting humans against HIV-1 transmission
