    • This study shows that Hoxa2 and Hoxb2 are intrinsically and extrinsically required to maintain the caudorostral tangential migratory pathway of pontine neurons (PN) in the mouse brainstem. This is partly achieved by antagonizing the DCC/netrin-1 dorsoventral attracting system through direct Hoxa2-dependent regulation of the repulsive Robo2 receptor. Moreover, the facial motor nucleus is an essential environmental Slit-secreting source to maintain normal caudorostral migration of PN.
