    • Direct effect of cholesterol on insulin secretion: A novel mechanism for pancreatic beta-cell dysfunction
    • This article describes the deleterious effects of β-cell cholesterol accumulation on insulin secretion. It shows that excess cholesterol inhibits glucokinase activity, decreases glycolysis and reduces insulin secretion. These effects were alleviated by depleting the β-cells of cholesterol
