Maser RS, Choudhury B, Campbell PJ, et al. Chromosomally unstable mouse tumours have genomic alterations similar to diverse human cancers. Nature 2007; 447:966-971. This study illustrates how the introduction of mutations in DNA damage checkpoints can increase the rate of genomic alterations in genetically defined mouse tumors. The generation of humanized mouse tumors with increased frequencies of focal genomic deletions should facilitate cross-species oncogenomic comparison for the discovery of new tumor-suppressor genes.
