Although AuIII has a high extinction coefficient in the UV, it is difficult to resolve this band due to the dendrimer. Additionally, Au III begins to oxidize -OH and -NNH2 terminated PAMAM dendrimers over the course of several minutes see ref 44, The combination of these two factors makes it very difficult to accurately determine Au-dendrimer stoichiometries for the anchored dendrimers. The CoII titration is used instead, as it is experimentally straightforward and allows us to directly compare metal uptake by anchored dendrimers to that by solution phase dendrimers
