    • The N2-acetyl group on the guanine building block is needed because of the extremely low solubility of guanine in common organic solvents; for this reason, similar reactions performed with guanine instead N2-acetylguanine failed. Two recent studies about G-quartet formation from N2-modified guanosine have been published: a X. Liu, I. C. M. Kwan, S. Wang, G. Wu, Org. Lett. 2006, 8, 3685-3688;
