    • From in industrial point of view, it is commonly advantageous to promote continuous addition of reactants to an immobilised catalyst compared to repeatedly carrying out batch-wise procedures with the same catalyst. Indeed, each reisolation of the catalysts exerts stress on it which leads to reduced performance in the next run.

    • It should be noted that use of solvents with better complexing properties than water, such as DMF, gave supernatants which, unlike in cases of aqueous solvents, still showed catalytic activity in Heck reactions. Similar observations were noted by: Nowotny, W.; Hanefeld, U.; Van Koningsveld, H.; Maschmeyer, M. Chem. Commun. 2000, 1877.

    • Pugin noted site isolation effects for immobilised neutral rhodium and iridium catalysts. Low loading turned out to be beneficial for the catalytic process, whereas high loading renders the catalysts inactive, possibly due to dimerisation: Pugin, B. J. Mol. Cat. A: Chem. 1996, 107, 273.
