    • For all tests, a halide aryl compound (1 mmol), a boronic acid (1 mmol) and a base (3 mmol) were dissolved in 10 mL of a solvent. A catalyst (amount containing 0.01 mmol of Pd) was then added to the reaction mixture. The reaction was monitored by HPLC (Shimadzu SCL-10A with Discovery C18 column, 15 cm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm; eluent: methanol/water, 60:40).

    • The reaction was carried out until a conversion of 30-50% was reached. Then, the catalyst was filtered and the reaction mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 22 h. The absence of further conversion proves the absence of homogeneous Pd in the solution.
