Subunit exchange of polydisperse proteins: mass spectrometry reveals consequences of alphaA-crystallin truncation
-
A comparative study of full-length αA-crystallin and a truncated form. Tandem MS allows the determination of the relative populations of the different oligomers that comprise the polydisperse assembly, and shows how this is affected by truncation and how truncation compromises the subunit exchange dynamics of this protein.

Heptameric (L12)6/L10 rather than canonical pentameric complexes are found by tandem MS of intact ribosomes from thermophilic bacteria
-
The mass of intact prokaryotic ribosomes was measured. Also, disassembly using tandem MS reveals post-translational modifications and potentially novel interactions.
