Xenotransplantation 2005; 12:217-226. This paper reports that the distribution of porcine CD55 in pigs is not as it is in humans, and is absent from aortic smooth muscle. Although, it provides no data, it also reports that porcine CD55 is not expressed on porcine endothelium. We can confirm this from our own studies.

A milestone paper in that it records the first results from transplanting Gal knockout hearts into baboons with survivals ranging from 2 to 6 months (median 78 days). These results have to be encouraging for the future of xenotransplantation.

In this study the authors used their 'thymokidney' technique, and report absence of acute vascular rejection in all the grafts.
