Another possibility would be that both catalytic cycles are connected at intermediate c, what has been described as a suitable intermediate for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction, which can undergo direct transmetalation with the boronic acid (ref 7b). Studies aimed at elucidating the mechanism at play in this system are currently ongoing.
