25. (a) Differential protection of the amines using our previously reported protective groups was attempted. The purification of mono and bis-trifluoroacetamido or mono- and bis-trityl porphyrins is even more troublesome than the purification of mono- and bis-imidazole porphyrins; for that reason, these protective groups were not used here.
26. tris. Eventually, some target mono-phenolic compound was obtained, but the yields were low and hardly reproducible, and mostly the tris-deprotected species was obtained.
