    • The volume of the solution pushed into the junction area by the micropump during a single on-period is approximately 200 pL when the switching frequency is 100 Hz. It is almost the same as the volume (200 pL) around the junction of the narrow channels. For stable switching operation to make thin skins of the solutions, the volume larger than the junction area should be injected during one on-period of the micropump operation. This is the reason why the thin skins could not appear at 100 Hz or higher frequencies. The detailed mechanism of these phenomena should be further investigated.
