Localized RNA associates with the endoplasmic reticulum in the mitochondrial cloud. The localization does not depend on cold or nocodazol treatments, which depolymerize the microtubule network. The results indicate that the localization of early pathway RNA is motor independent.

In addition, early pathway RNAs associate with a perinuclear microtubule network that connects to the mitochondrial cloud of stage I Xenopus oocytes. A common motor machinery might function during the early and late pathways.
