Phys., IV France 104 2003 231 234 Discusses the technology of focusing by ultra-smooth KB-mirrors developed at ESRF. Beam sizes of 0.16×0.21 μm at 20.5 keV are reported for imaging applications. Current record is for an 86×83 nm focal spot (personal communication O. Hignette). KB-mirrors are used both for short distance and long distance focusing applications. Advantages are the low background scattering and the high efficiency. For long focal distance applications a feedback systems is required.
