The reaction of bppapa under identical conditions affords the hydrolysed product, N,N-bis-(2-pyridylmethyl)-N-(6-amino-2-pyridylmethyl)amine (bpapa) in a yield of ca. 95% after 10 days. Studies directed at fully establishing the mechanism of amide hydrolysis of bppapa and related ligands are currently in progress.
