Asano Improving the pyrophosphate-inosine phosphotransferase activity of Escherichia blattae acid phosphatase by sequential site-directed mutagenesis Biosci Biotechnol Biochem 68 2004 1046 1050 An acid phosphatase/phosphotransferase from Escherichia blattae was evolved by sequential site-directed mutagenesis based on comparison of it with enzymes from other sources. This attempt revealed that some residues, whose relevance was not fully established by structural analysis alone, play a crucial role for enzyme activity.
