    • We report here DNA/polymer weight ratios rather than DNA/polymer charge ratios or nitrogen/phosphate ratios. Although all three conventions are used in the literature, we find weight ratios to be more practical and definitive, since the overall charge on a polyamine is subject to environmental variations in pH and temperature. While DNA/polymer charge ratios are descriptive for polymers such as polylysine, they are less meaningful for the 140 different polymers described here which incorporate less basic amines.
