    • γ-Secretase cleavage and nuclear localization of ErbB-4 receptor tyrosine kinase
    • This work demonstrates that ErbB-4 is proteolytically processed by the same mechanisms that act on Notch and APP (Alzheimer's precursor protein) and that result in nuclear localization of the ErbB-4 cytoplasmic domain. The processing of ErbB-4 can be stimulated by heregulin or TPA. Furthermore, the paper also shows that the heregulin-dependent induction of cell death is abrogated by γ-secretase inhibition. These two facts establish a novel signaling and trafficking pathway for RTKs.
