    • The authors report the substrate specificity of N-acetylglucosamine-6-O-sulfotransferase-1 (GlcNAc6ST-1), one of the candidate 6-sulfotransferases for L-selectin ligand synthesis. They show that transfection of the gene for the 6-sulfotransferase to cells confers significant L-selectin-mediated rolling, complementing the results of an earlier study [10] indicating that the same enzyme conferred significant L-selectin-mediated cell adhesion in nonstatic monolayer cell adhesion assays.

    • This study using PSGL-1-gene-disrupted mice complements a previous report from the same laboratory [35]. The studies indicate that PSGL-1, although not indispensable for E-selectin binding, still serves as a major carrier of carbohydrate ligands for E-selectin in T-cell migration. No sufficient evidence was obtained for its physiological significance as a carrier for L-selectin ligands.
