18. A small feature is seen in these higher resolution AFM images [Figs. 3 (d)-(f)], labeled with an asterisk. This feature does not change in size or shape over time and is most likely a dust particle or other foreign object. This particle and its spatial relationship to the evolving feature in the center of the image were used to maintain the spatial correlation of the AFM images over time.
