    • The amplitude image is the image of the amplitude of the oscillation of the scanning force microscope tip. The amplitude is being controlled to be constant by a feedback control loop, but a delay of the feedback results in a small deviation of the amplitude of the tip, which is used for imaging.

    • Epitaxial atomic structures are known that have a fiber texture, consisting of columnar grains with the same plane parallel to the substrate but with a different orientation of the crystal axes in the plane. The extreme disorder of the in-plane block copolymer structure however makes such an explanation unlikely.
