    • Transport, docking and exocytosis of single secretory granules in live chromaffin cells
    • Using evanescent-wave microscopy, the authors were able to study the movement of single granules of adrenal chromaffin cells labeled with acridine orange. Depolarization of the cells led to exocytosis of granules and subsequent mobilization of other granules. Mobilized granules moved in a directed manner and docked to the plasma membrane. Occasionally, a docked vesicle could become undocked and move away from the plasma membrane, indicating the reversibility of docking events
