    • Impaired myocardial angiogenesis and ischemic cardiomyopathy in mice lacking the vascular endothelial growth factor isoforms VEGF164 and VEGF188
    • Mice exclusively expressing the VEGF120 isoform show severe phenotype in the heart leading to fatal ischemic cardiomyopathy. In wild-type embryos, the expression of the longer isoforms of VEGF, VEGF164 and VEGF188, dominate in the heart. Thus, this data demonstrates the different functional roles of the VEGF isoforms.
