J Exp Med 1997; 185:1371-1380. This study involved blocking the functions of MCP-1 or RANTES during development of crescentic nephritis using neutralizing antibodies or a RANTES receptor antagonist. Evidence is provided to show that MCP-1 is critical, not only in the accumulation of leukocytes in the kidney, but also in the progression of disease.
