Pregnancy loss in the antiphospholipid - Antibody syndrome - A possible thrombogenic mechanism
-
Rand JH, Wu XX, Andree HA, Lockwood CJ, Guller S, Scher J, Harpel PC. Pregnancy loss in the antiphospholipid - antibody syndrome - a possible thrombogenic mechanism. N Engl J Med 1997; 337:154-160. This article proposes that reduction of levels of annexin V by antiphospholipid antibodies could be an important mechanism of thrombosis and pregnancy loss in the antiphospholipid-antibody syndrome.

Randomised controlled trial of aspirin and aspirin plus heparin in pregnant women with recurrent miscarriage associated with phospholipid antibodies (or antiphospholipid antibodies). Absence of natural killer cells during murine pregnancy is associated with reproductive compromise in TgE26 mice
-
••]) provides the much needed and definitive proof that a lack of maternal uNKC is associated with pregnancy resorption. The authors established that a lack of uNKC resulted in high resorption rates and was the first to report that uNKC influence uterine vasculature. The lack of uNKC resulted in thicker vessels, loss of endothelial integrity and decidual edema.

J Exp Med 1998; 187:217-223. The authors provide the definitive proof of the need for uNKC by reconstituting the NKC status of tge26 mice. Reconstitution reduced anomalies in the decidual blood vessels, increased placental size and restored normal implantation and development patterns.
