    • The coming Kuhnian revolution in biology
    • of outstanding interest. The inadequacies of focusing on single genes, the genetic determinism paradigm, are pointed out. Epigenetics, where multiple genes and environmental factors interact and elicit emergent properties, is suggested as a successor paradigm. We feel that the use of expressed sequence tags, related technologies and bioinformatic software in combination will yield interpretive and predictive powers that will strengthen this revolutionary paradigm which we term 'epigenomics'.
