Hydrous zirconia was prepared starting from commercially available zirconium hydroxide (Sigma-Aldrich); calcination of zirconium hydroxide was carried out in a Buchi TO-51 () at 270 C for 24 h; we observed different catalytic properties depending upon the level of hydration of the catalyst.
